This course offers students in their first year of their Master studies the opportunity to participate in research activities. The students join one of the high energy physics groups groups and conduct their own small research project for typically 4 weeks. We recommend to participate in a project during term break (either in spring or summer/ early fall) but projects during the semester are also possible. The list of internship topics contains a selection of available projects. There also exists the possibility to work on projects not on this list. If you are interested in a special topic, please refer to the homepage of the groups to find out about existing experiments. As not all experiments may have the capacity for a student at all times, please make an early contact. The Research Internships in Particle Physics are coordinated by Eckhard v. Toerne, who should be contacted prior to the internship. The High Energy Physics Lab is a 4 credit point course (Physics 717) in the Bonn Master study program in Physics. For students of the Bonn-Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy, participation in this course fulfills the requirement for a research internship. |
